With the announcement of the planned summit sparking conversation among fellow Caribbean nations, the Attorney-General on behalf of Prime Minister Summerford held a press conference today formally issuing an open invitation to all nations interesting in combating drug and weapons trafficking in the region. The administration has recently taken fire from neighboring countries for only inviting the U.S., U.K., and the Netherlands to the planned summit. While this may have seemed like a slight or at best an oversight, Attorney General Yates stated, "It was always the Prime Minister's intention to invite and welcome other nations once we had secured interest from a larger country that has a mutual interest in a safer Caribbean, such as the United States." Additionally, talks are currently underway to discuss moving the location of the summit from Christ Church to Bridgetown if a larger than expected number of nations plan to attend.

Barbados would like to thank the Netherlands for their interest, and continued efforts, in combating illegal drug activity in the Caribbean. We look forward to working you on this front.
Additionally, Prime Minister Summerford would like to organize a state visit to The Hague with the goal of fostering bilateral relations between our two countries.
