In conjuncture with the plethora of foreign aid projects flooding the unassuming little island, Tuvalu has quickly gone from a miserable little spot on the Pacific Ocean to being a slightly less miserable spot on the Pacific Ocean with roads! Also a number of public housing units settled quite happily in downtown Funafuti, the island chain's Capitol. The construction project, along side a general clean up effort and plumbing effort lead by the Tuvaluan Government, have culminated successfully after approximately four years of effort. The downtown area, particularly around the fabled post office and hotel, has been cleaned up significantly. Many gutted, condemned, and ghastly looking shacks have been torn down and replaced with new housing units complete with plumbing, electricity, and heating/cooling. Efforts are being made now to clean up the small "river" that spans the width of the town.
[Meta] Sorry this isn't quite as detailed as I'd like. I'm still on vacation and can't focus on this as much as I'd like.
