Single payer has saved more of my friends and family than I care to count, and it did so at no direct cost to me.
Are there waits for some services? Of course. That's what happens when people don't have to choose between bankruptcy or death.
Besides, the American system isn't free from a tax perspective either. As much public money gets spent on healthcare as many countries with public systems, it's just that then people pay again a second time paying directly for health insurance. Then a third time with copay.

This shit looks wonderful Prior to Obamacare I could go into a clinic/ER and get treatment within 2hrs. Even get a blood test! If I needed to see a doctor wait time was 2 days at most during cold and flu season. Now many doctors in my area are just retiring and the doctors still running private practices have stopped taking new patients. Hell, when I needed to see a specialist after my car accident, I SAW THEM THE SAME DAY not 7 months down the road. So how was it worse?
