I like to comparison to tensegrity that you make. It fits. You mentioned it being a good western explanation. What would be the original concept/idea behind it? It would be great If you could point me in a general direction to learn more about that.

Could you please tell me what mediation actually is and how to practice it? Thinking about it made me realize I now nothing but rumors and stereotypes about it. I might join you, but I don't do things I don't know about.

Read this! I just found it in this sub and it's a very no-frills introduction to meditation. There are lots of different kinds, and they all have different goals, but the kind that I've given you a link to is usually the first step to almost all of the kinds. In Pali (the language spoken in India at the time of the Buddha), it is known as anapanasati - simply observing your breath.

But the trivia isn't important, it's just to satisfy your curiosity. Practice is important. Feel free to comment here or message me if you have any doubts at all!

Thanks! Reading this is probably the first time I have read about meditation outside of religious text. I have been meditating sporadically, but can't seem to stick with it every day. I didn't know that anapanasati was considered a bridge to different types of advanced meditations.

I once read about a meditation that was a slightly advanced version of anapanasati. The goal was to focus on the gap between the inhale and the exhale, then the gap between the exhale and the inhale. As if to focus on the part of your breathing where you're actually not breathing. Do you know anything about this? I'll admit, I read it in an Osho book, and I know he has a negative connotation in some circles.

So, thanks for this and I guess I'll talk to you at the 1 month mark.

Or earlier

Thanks, now I know a bit more, I'll try it out but I probably won't make it to the one month mark.

I had this idea today to create 30 good habits in 30 days while at the same time getting rid of bad ones. Meditation is on my good habits list so count me in.

That sounds like a lot of good habits to train in a very short period! It is normally recommended to do them one at a time.

But if you feel know what you're doing, power to you. Best of luck, and I'm very happy to have you with us. ^^

Thank you. I'm starting small like just water instead of coffee one time in a day. I haven't meditated yet so that can be my other thing to do for today.

Whaaat is going on in this sub? Why all text is white? Why this answer box is all fucked up, moved to the right so it goes over the side bar? What is this madness? I cant read anything at all here and as such, cant give a proper reply at all.

Are you on mobile? It's working fine for me on desktop Chrome. Try submitting to /v/help if things are still weird.
