I wanted to share this because I thought bone marrow transplantation was used exclusively for aplastic anemias and malignant diseases. Today I found out that metabolic diseases such as osteopetrosis can be treated with this (in fact, it is the only treatment, and is used since 1968).

The most impressive results are with patients with Hurler disease, in which glycosaminoglycanes are reduced rapidly after the engraftment. The coronaries show patency even 14 years after. Sadly, there is little bone penetration.
