Welcome to Voat and thanks for your story. This is indeed the correct subverse and we're happy to have you here.

Thanks. So far the only bad thing is there is almost zero discussion posts for tv shows. I love to talk about scifi shows and similar but there doesn't appear to be much of an audience for that yet.

Yeah I feel you, /v/stargate is starting to get a little activity. /v/tv is fairly active also.

Best way to fix it is to contribute your own thoughts and hopefully others will chime in with you.

Well, if you like fight scenes in movies, tv shows, and anime. Fight Scenes

Yeah, /r/offmychest and a bunch of other SJW controlled subreddits all ban people for posting anything on /r/KotakuInAction, /r/TheRedPill, and several other, "problematic," subreddits.

Even if they are actually towing the SJW line.

I remember deleting my account became easier when I noticed how common those bans were getting.

A really weird thing is is that they post people for going to /r/ImGoingToHellForThis all the time but I'm a Mod of the subreddit and I haven't been banned. I comment in OffMyChest all the day. Maybe they just go into certain threads and ban from there? I'm a mod but I almost never participate...

I was a redditor since there were no text posts or subreddits. For a while I had one of the top 100 accounts on there - I had the #2 account in comment karma for a few months.

That's just to give some weight to: fuck reddit.

You did NOTHING wrong. This is all about power-mongering and bullying. They get a rush when they get to do stuff like that to you - it's the web equivalent of pushing someone so they fall and drop their books, then standing over that person and laughing at them because they can't do anything about it.

The failure of reddit is rooted in catering to the readers instead of worrying about contributors. All they look at are page views (readers & lurkers), which means if some batch of lurkers gets unhappy because of something posted, they have to punish the contributor. They've set up the mod/rules system to make it easy to banish anyone they want to.

Voat is small, but pockets of it are pretty active. Though you won't see any four-figure upvoats, and three-figure ones are rare, after a while it's nice because the ones you do get feel more meaningful.

/v/whatever is an open hangout with no rules, so it's always a good place to just post stuff if you don't want to bother dealing with rules, or to ask questions about how the place runs.

Welcome! hands GatorJumper a scotch

I have been banned by subreddits for some crazy stupid shit. I got banned from r/wtf because somebody posted something about a woman killing her three kids while going through depression. Some bitch comes in and defends her actions, "I have kids have considered killing them myself, you don't understand what depression can do to you yadayada."

I was shocked, "Whoa you have thought about killing your kids over depression? You are clinically fucking nuts lady you need to seek immediate psychiatric help. I mean you really have a something wrong with you! Seek help and tell them you are thinking of harming your children!"

Some kid burst in white knight defending her, we all have thoughts like this, nothing abnormal... I argue that isn't the case and boom banned. I have also been banned by r/conservative. I am ultra conservative but pissed off a mod so for life ban. Reddit has turned into a shadow of its former self, a real censoring shit hole.

[–] Gkar 0 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago

I got banned from /r/LifeProTips for posting the tip that if you always smile and treat people well, on the average your life will go better than if you're a grumpy asshole.

Got banned from /r/celebs for saying that Ratajkowski was polish for "someone get that girl a sandwich"

Pretty sure I got banned from /r/askscience for going on a tirade about peer-reviewed journals being treated like Papal edicts and PhDs being treated like Priests

Of course I got banned from /r/SRS and /r/Pyongyang, but that's just par for the course.

[–] 123_456 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Actually those thoughts are totally normal. HOWEVER, actually killing your kids is unacceptable. Thinking and doing are totally different. I have no sympathy anyway for a cunt that kills her kids. I mean, what if that was a dad? The fucker would be put in an electric chair.

[–] ScottRockview 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

They can't have us thinking or own thoughts now can they? If we aren't spewing their pre-approved messages (which grant them control) they don't want it there.

Ironic that Redditors hate the "police state" but submit to Reddit's online version of a "police state" with their approval. Because Reddit knows what's best for them and will protect them. ;)

[–] Arotaes_Forgehammer 1 points 16 points (+17|-1) ago

/v/meanwhileonreddit? Eh, close enough and I guess it could work considering the issues with Reddit you have. Welcome aboard!

[–] GatorJumper [S] 0 points 46 points (+46|-0) ago

Thanks. My understanding is that I have limited votes based on how many upvotes I have received? Is there any way to see how many I can have? It feels strange having to worry about upvoting posts I like.

[–] Arotaes_Forgehammer 1 points 16 points (+17|-1) ago

You have unlimited upvoats at 20CCP, which is like comment karma, and you can downvote at 100. It's easy.

[–] ginx2666 1 points 4 points (+5|-1) ago

You also have to give more upvotes than downvotes to keep downvoting. It's a retarded limitation, but no system is perfect. I just went and upvoted random crap (could be even spam for all I care) to get over the limit.
