They get $ from page hits even if you block ads.

How?

Traffic stats in general drive up the demand to advertise on Reddit. There's also the ads that blockers don't block.

Well, it is a good practice in general to do archived pages since Reddit is on a deletion spree.

I feel I must make a note here. Brigading isn't "wrong". That belief stems from the stupid rule they invented at Reddit, that gets selectively applied all the time -- in case you haven't noticed, every powerful interest group at Reddit brigades with impunity -- precisely so that certain groups would have the power to suppress others without fear of retaliation.

While I understand and agree with your sentiment about the rule contradiction, nonetheless gathering a group of users with the explicit intent of up or down voting any particular submission or comment is vote manipulation, which breaks the system. If you don't give a shit about the system working properly, this doesn't matter. If you do, it does.

Nonono, you haven't understood what I meant. That act doesn't "break the system". It is the system.

I'm suggesting that you should not let assholes who routinely game the system dupe you into feeling guilty that you could do the same things they do. By planting this silly idea that what they do is forbidden to you, and that you ought to feel guilty if you do what they do, they fabricate an advantage over you, and manipulate your behavior to their convenience.

The point is that they have admin-approved brigading subs, man. They routinely flout their own rules. No use in abiding by them.

One big thing to consider here is that we don't want voat to have a reputation of raiding other sites.

Or do we? Cause I'm cool either way guys. I have both a pitchfork and a pacifist hat within reach.

Reputation is moot. Other sites can't do anything to us.

A rule, by the way, which they don't even enforce on certain subreddits - e.g., SRS and SRD, TopMindsOfReddit, /r/GMOMyths, all of which are set up to brigade.

Brigading is against the rules unless you're an admin approved SJW or a representative of one of their advertisers.

I prefer the screenshot method. Sometimes the archives don't work so well in my past experience.

I feel that if this is a major concern for the moderator of this subverse, perhaps this subverse shouldn't exist.

I think it is a good subverse for the Reddit discussions but the whole point of moving away for me was the censorship. It is pointless linking back to the place where censorship is happening because the original reason for the post can be altered on Reddit. As per point 3.

This is kind of funny. Could you elaborate?

Well it's funny that you are moderating a subverse entirely about reddit, while against linking to reddit as it is 'Promoting its existence'.

One could argue that continued discussion regarding what is happening on reddit is 'promoting its existence'.

If all you want to do is lurk you guys may appreciate a reddit client I started as a proof of concept named V for Reddit. It works like alien blue in your browser

https://politicbot.github.io

I never finished it, could have been pretty cool. It was to be a web application that started by replicating all of the UX of reddit.com at the DOM level.

It was to be a starting point for giving users the power to change their reddit experience in a way never seen before (RES on incredible steroids).

Instead it turned out to serve as an inspirational starting point for https://fair-share.github.io and https://modlog.github.io

Maybe modlog.github.io will realize the intention of changing the reddit experience in a different way.

Doing this, you won't be giving leddit the traffic it needs to survive

This site has maybe a few thousand people on at a time. It won't make a bit of difference compared to the millions on Reddit.
