Most likely, it's an automod. I'm guessing the mods probably set up the spam filter to be triggered by racial slurs. Given how large AskReddit is, it's understandable that the mods would try to automate part of their job, but situations like this show the drawbacks of that. In this case, the N-word is actually a legitimate answer to the question and didn't merit deletion.

AskReddit definitely has one of the most zealous automods on reddit. It removes posts that don't have the correct punctuation, it removes posts if it detects an e-mail address or keywords like "resume" in case someone is asking about job help. I don't see why they wouldn't also include flagging keywords like racial slurs given the climate on reddit.
No idea really, but don't automods delete the post right away? Like before anyone would get a chance to read it? People clearly read his post, so doesn't that mean it wasn't an automod?

The removal of the post was actually done by AutoModerator, and not the mods themselves, but that makes it funnier because it shows that AutoMod filtering arbitrary words isn’t adaptive enough for all situations.
People think eliminating words from the common vocabulary somehow magically removes the underlying ideas and concepts as well... when they find that doesn't work, they try silencing the people as well.
Boils down to wanting their own interpretation of reality to become everyone else's reality. Feminist Beatrid Az called this master suppression techiques. Interesting how SJW feminists today use the same oppressive techniques on othwrs.

Not only does your user-name please me mightily, but your comment does as well.
Nice to see you are back from exploring the outer rim.

I'm curious about this. Why ban this sort of question?

then the right thing to do is override the auto-mod. Think they'll do that?

Reddit must really love the word if they aren't allowing users to feel disturbed by it.

I was thinking the same thing. Doesn't their removal of "nigger" here mean that they feel people shouldn't feel uncomfortable when it's brought up?
