I noticed this when I saw homeopathic capsacin medicine with a bunch of 5 star reviews on Amazon. I knew they had to be fake.

How did they determine that Amazon knew about all of this?

I assume it was because he told them?

"All of this information, and a lot more, has been submitted directly to Amazon and not much has been done to resolve it. The only disciplinary action that has been taken is shutting down one of Sam's seller accounts. There were more accounts up and selling within hours..."

Unless I missed a part where they mentioned Amazon knew beforehand?

Oh okay. I thought they meant that Amazon knew beforehand and assisted the guy with hijacking the reviews.

Wow, imgur is decimating all links to this. How pathetic.

I see no proof that reddit admins had anything to do with censoring this story, only a sensationalized title by someone who has a reputation for making them.

So, where is the censorship again? All I see is enforcement of site-wide rules - they've removed posts for personal information even when that information is publicly available many many times. Your title implies that they are censoring the story itself, not removing it because it violates their interpretation of doxxing rules. Are you actually saying that stopping reddit's witch-hunt savvy userbase from harassing someone in the internet court of public opinion is censorship? This is no different than the SLC daycare fiasco.

Do you have any proof that it's the admins necessitating the ban, and not moderators of individual subreddits? There are some images, particularly the ones where the OP digs up the guy's name and address, that are doxxing (not even a grey area IMO, its outright doxxing), which most mods remove on sight to avoid their sub being banned. Unless the link itself is being spam binned/removed immediately, there is no proof that this had anything to do with the admins.

If someone wants, they could set up a test subreddit with them as the only mod and try posting it to see what happens. I like my name too much to risk a SB over this.

That isn't doxxing. All of the information was posted on public sites.

I understand pretty much all of the Internet is public but that was posted to identify the seller.

The admins of Reddit, including Alexis have stated multiple times that they consider all personal information to be a bannable offense. I'm a huge defender of freedom of speech but I also defend their right to prevent their property from being used for random acts of stalking. There's plenty of other terrible shit to nail reddit for, but I'd let them go on this one. If someone made another album with the names and addresses censored, then the admins would probably allow it. Test it ;].

All of the information was posted on public sites.

That is immaterial. Just because someone else did it somewhere doesn't make it ok.
