Isn't this what Namecoin aims to achieve? Decentralized DNS?

I'm familiar with Namecoin but I don't really see the similarity.
The main purpose of the blockchain here is to have a distributed consensus over the voting on content using cheap cryptographic tokens (i.e. coins)
Namecoin only solves the issue of maintaining ownership over domain like records.
