This comment really is on-topic, so please bear with me.

Not too long ago, Indiana didn't participate in the stupidity of Daylight Savings Time. During the final push that got us into the mass hallucination of having extra time, I was still pointing out that no, it doesn't reduce crime. No, it doesn't reduce energy costs. And then read about many of the local farmers saying that they didn't want DST because without it they got an extra hour in their day to work.

The whole "Free speech on Reddit" thing makes me feel the same way. I'm a big advocate of free speech. But I'm really embarrassed to be on the same side as some of these guys.

The problem with defending people's rights, is you first must defend the scum of earth, the derelicts, those that are least popular. Because that's whose rights are always taken away first. You make the fight for the racists, rapists, and child molesters who want their rights (speech in this instance), because you can't give even an inch to those who want to impose on your rights.

Freedom is far more precious than security.

So far I have done a fantastic job of never being exposed to any of those subs. I'm not sure why reddit feels like they need to protect me from them.

We need a place to engrave your comment. If we only preserve the rights of the "Good" people, we'll soon run out of people with rights.

There is that poem about the guy in Nazi Germany who didn't speak out when they came for the socialists, and the jews and the gays etc. So when they came for him there was no one left to defend him.

I think that there should always be a line in this sort of thing, I'm saying stuff like if there was actually a subverse dedicated to sharing child pornogoraphy and stuff of the sort should be banned.

I'm the same. I'm not a fan of raping women or punching kids. I'm in favour of free speech because there are other things, important and politically incorrect, that I still want to be able to discuss.

If men are to be precluded from offering their sentiments on a matter which may involve the most serious of consequences then reason is of no use to us. The freedom of speech may be taken away, and dumb and silent they will be led like sheep to the slaughter. -George Washington

Free speech works on the principle of hanging together or hanging separately. You take the bad with the good, without any prejudice, or you don't really have free speech at all. It only exists when you defend expression you don't like as vehemently as the expression you do like.

Punching quadriplegics? That's... specific.

Yeah, like how much content could these subs possibly have?

/r/tsunderesharks does okay for itself. A couple posts a week can justify a sub.

This really highlights the bias that went into banning r/fatpeoplehate when there were so so many far more hateful subreddits that they ignored until now.

FPH went first because it was popular and brought more bad press for redit than all these subs combines. And that's all that matters.

Nope. It's like scat on a porn site. Keep it off my feed and I don't care.

Maybe it's lucky timing that Voat went private when it did. The moderators of these subreddits may not set up camp here if their user base can't register accounts.

Even if they do set up camp here when registrations are back up they'll likely go the way of FPH and just make the sub private and live their own lives. Simple as that.

Nah, none of them were big to begin with. If they started those subs here it would most likely just be a small handful of people on them. Let them have it if they want.

One of the attractions of Voat to many is that those communities are allowed to be here.

Note the curious omission of /r/KillWhitey, which admins are presumably just fine with.

Apparently reddit was bigger than I thought. I have never heard of any of those.

I'm not any better off for having heard of those...

Feel the energy flow through you, reddit. Welcome to the Dark Side. Remember that the more power you use, the less authority you actually wield - a smaller, more submissive, self-censoring community, with fewer eyeballs for your precious celebrity interviews.
