I understand that reddit was a huge part of your life. Mine too.
While it's obvious that this is changing, I don't believe that this means it's going away. Sure it burns a little bit, but it's best for us all if it survives. Honestly it's become a destination for the overuse of memes, every post must have a pun comment thread, and to be quite honest there are enough trolls and shills that the only top comments are the quick and witty ones by popular accounts. It's the same shit day in and day out, it's all pre-planned and it isn't organic anymore.
I personally like the smaller community here. Sure there is some of the above... but I think most here have proven that they care, that they've got opinions, and that you're willing to remove yourself from an environment that you don't agree with. That's why you're here.
I like that we can have conversations here without being overrun with thousands of links to gifs in the comments, or being called a faggot (just guaranteed top comment I suppose), or having the very top comment be some circlejerk.
Look; we have enough users here that we're not really lacking content. We have this without like 99% of the most mindless drones on the Internet. Sure some of that exists here but I can tell you one thing that will ruin the good thing we have here, and that's to wholesale pick up all of reddit's users and moderators and drop them off here.
Let them exist, let them monetize, and let them keep their shills. Wishing, or contributing to, their demise will have very bad consequences for us. Sure we can keep tabs and call out the hypocrisy and have some laughs, but keep in mind that this isn't bad right now.
I believe the user base here is of a higher class right now, you're here because you took a stand. Let's keep this thing going for a while, yea?
