You nailed it. It's a generation where there was outrage if someone's kid didn't make the cut for sports team regardless of how bad they were, and every single kid got a trophy just because it made them feel bad if they didn't; Where kids could cry about getting a bad grade or their parents could complain to the school and the grade might get bumped up; where my own nephew's entire school (4th grade mind you) was not allowed to celebrate Halloween by dressing up and expressing themselves because some kid's parents complained to the school that such activities were offensive to their culture/religious beliefs; where helicopter parents have coddled their kids to the point that they can't function as adults due to criticism or harsh-realities. I blame the parents, the teachers, and the lawyers. I bring in the last group there because in many ways they've helped fuel this arena of fear whereby no one wants to risk taking a stand anymore for fear of the almighty lawsuit coming down on them. It's a sad reality. I don't deny that bullying exists, and I've seen some stories of it that are terrible (the equivalent of the hive-mind attacking people in real life) but there's also a point where kids need to face their problems and learn to cope with some shit in life.

I've seen so many people ridiculed in the past for saying that the 'everyone is a winner' culture will have negative ramifications. It's some small comfort that they were right.

I don't think that it's any coincidence that the daddy's little princesses that I saw growing up in the 90s have now turned into the same women crying patriarchy and misogyny when they expect to get preferential treatment simply because they're females.

coddling kids feelings doesn't prepare them for the real world, and we all lose.

I agree totally with what you have said.I will add that these people who grew up being told they were all special and getting everything they want are now trying to project that onto the whole world. They are finding out that the rest of the world really does not think they are special little snowflakes and their response is to scream loudly and try to dominate. No matter how this ends up they will always be desperately unhappy people seeking more and more control and it will never be enough.
