Sadly I was gilded not 20 minutes ago. At first I was excited, then I quickly remembered why I shouldn't be. I have had various accounts on reddit since 2009ish and have been an active contributor on a few different subreddits, mostly those regarding recreational drug use. I have an insatiable appetite for helping people understand drugs better and as a result I still frequent /r/drugs and its sister subs frequently. As much as I would like to cut the cord completely from that site, it is the inexperienced drug users looking to make their drug use safer that keeps me coming back. It is too bad /v/drugs only has 1800 subscribers currently because I would be more than happy to switch over completely.
My question to all you voaters out there: What should/can I do with reddit gold that could possibly get peoples attention and perhaps prompt more people to come over here? I of course have never been gilded before and as a result I know nothing about it. Is it just a worthless gesture that fills the pockets of those dicks wearing suits over at conde nast? Is there something.....anything I can do to basically denounce my gilding? I could care less about being banned.
Viva la Voat!

Haha that is a-okay! Thanks buddy! I wish I was more of content provider rather than a comment....guy. I feel kind of helpless at /v/drugs because there is almost nobody there and most of those posting either know what they are doing already or post mostly news articles.

Be patient. Voat is still growing and i'm sure people will visit /v/drugs to ask about drugs. For now you can help that sub grow to its full potential by posting info about drugs and commenting. By the time new people arrive, your voice will carry more weight around that sub since you helped it grow.

That's a good point! You have inspired me today to find someway to help that sub become a better place than the reddit version....which is admittedly pretty shitty overall. So many questions get asked time and time again that a quick google search would have answered.
