I imagine the niche subreddits will be the last holdouts, then when they leave all that will be left is memes, blogspam and SJW's floating in their own waste

True, true. It's really the only reason I can't "let go" of Reddit.

It seems that SJWs and blogspam are literally cancer on the internet. They invade a website, cripple it with their bullshit and kill it. The organs (us in this case) are transplanted to a new host while the old host dies in the process.

Why did they have to bring gender into it? An engineer quit, Pao pissed people off and they fired a person who was well liked in the community. These are fuck-ups that are not gender specific.

[–] X____sign_here____ 0 points 25 points (+25|-0) ago

I thought the same thing reading that article. What does this have to do with gender? Technically, one person got fired and two quit. There is no gender issue here. Why try to create one?

Because gender is easier than admitting - "I'm not good at my job", "I don't like my employer", or simply, "I don't really feel like working here anymore".

I'm not usually for firing people, but that ugly ass SJW bitch definitely deserved it. Seems she was one of the Pao cultists. I hope they get rid of more of them. Obviously Pao wasn't the only Nazi over there. Would love to see some frivolous gender discrimination lawsuits thrown at reddit, muahaha.

I'm not sure these are fuck ups. Just because the loud few wanted to keep an employee that was let go, doesn't make it a fuck up.

I highly doubt Reddit will go anywhere. They may lose a few people but they have billions to fall back on.

I guess women simply can't be worse at something? No. It's an all-male conspiracy to defraud them.

She got hired two months ago, which means she was probably a PAO hire in the name of diversity (so personal SJW, anti-men beliefs, etc.).

So PAO is gone and now she is being judged by objective standards aaaaaaanand probably why she is leaving.

[–] teuast 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

The way I see it, it's not that women are worse at something, it's that she is worse at it.

[–] cittykatt 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

That just made me angry. From my basic understanding it seems like Pao was hired, she couldn't do her job well enough to carry out happiness in the community, so it was a set up because she's female? I know I'm cutting out a few details. But just because someone is a women and something unfair happened to them, doesn't mean it happened because of their gender.

Pretty much the same thing that happened to reddit just now. They tried to go corporate and monetize the site, but that led to a lot of community backlash and most of the site left within a week, most of them headed for reddit.

[–] voat-ist 0 points 14 points (+14|-0) ago

You should google this. There are some really good articles, interviews, blog posts and videos about the death of digg. Honestly, its needs its own documentary. The rise and fall of Digg is an important story in technology and it kind of defines the conditions for social media. Reddit is keenly aware of what happened at Digg and they have done everything possible to prevent falling into the same trap. That is why they have said "we screwed up" so many times.

Used to be as popular as Reddit. They changed formats and messed with a winning formula and everyone left. Now it is a ghost town.

Reddit prides itself on being a "safe space" and strives for gender diversity in the technical field ... and 3 female team members have either stepped down or been fired in the last week alone. I can't wait until the SJWs and the feminists get their hands on this and start pumping out angry blog posts about how Reddit hates women.

0
9

[–] mudcatca 0 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago

Yeah but don't they say that about everyone and everything except themselves?

0
8

[–] Nyx 0 points 8 points (+8|-0) ago

They do, but this mass migration of women is looking especially bad for Reddit. They started implementing all kinds of new rules and regulations (aka censorship) because they wanted their investors to see what a "diverse, tolerant, safe community" they created (for women especially) and now it's all backfiring because the women are leaving (Pao being a "minority woman" makes it look even worse.) Granted, Reddit was having problems before this, but they really shot themselves in the foot when they fired Victoria; it started a domino effect and there's not much they can do to stop the backlash now. The SJWs are really going to have a field day with this one... and I'm looking forward to it. The schadenfreude is real.

But you're under the impression that they are able to have rational discourse. Clearly, that's not possible

Ugh. Can we have a new name for angry man eating feminists please? Feminists just want gender equality not special treatment. I'm a feminist. You probably are too. Pretty please.

[–] yolotrader 1 points 11 points (+12|-1) ago  (edited ago)

The angry man-eating feminists just call themselves "feminists" like all the other feminists. They've taken the term away from the silent majority (if such majority even exists--and I see no real evidence of it other than in casual discussions). So I would say the rest of the feminists would do well to come up with another name. Moreover, I would like to see the rest of the feminists campaign for equality (which they frequently claim is their goal) instead of just for equal rights for women. Take a look at r/feminism's sidebar: "Equal rights for women". Take a look at HeForShe: "equal rights focused on women". These are the campaigns of non-radical feminism in today's world. Everything is still heavily female-biased. No talk of issues affecting men such as alimony, child-support, aid inequality (women have much more options in scholarships, shelters, recovery programs), permanent male "instigator" status during domestic abuse, legal inability of males to be rape victims in some places, etc.

I'm just saying that these kinds of things aren't the only reasons feminists are viewed in a negative light. The feminist sphere is so female-dominated and female-oriented that it makes the concept of the patriarchy seem like utopia. Bringing up male issues at feminist forums often gets you ignored and your issues trivialized--or worse, accused of derailing discussions of female-oriented topics.
