Honestly while their podcast is a little bit of a circlejerk, it is well produced and mostly interesting.
I refuse to listen to the podcast or sign up for their newsletter. I have been very interested in hearing from those who do. I was always wondering if it really honest with the real ongoings of reddit, of if it was just an uplifting fluff piece. Were you listening to the podcast during the weeks of the FPH ban and Victoria firing? I'm just wondering if there was much mention of it and how they tried to spin it off. Thanks!
The newsletter I skip because although it might have some interesting things in it... once I saw a video of a surfing squirrel in it I was done.
As for the podcast, they did put out one that tried to address the Victoria thing, and the episode prior was recorded earlier, right before the FPH banning. The issue with the Victoria one was exactly that although they addressed complaints about moderator tools, they didn't address the underlying issues that keep coming up. The issues that were thought to be regarding Pao, now which seem to really be focusing on Alexis were not addressed and the actual firing of victoria was not addressed. They spent most of that episode talking to an engineer working on new moderator tools. It was dissipating.
The prior episode, which really focused on how they should be maintaining and growing reddit, and issues of what it should be, was more interesting.
I still recommend the podcast, they interview some very interesting people. Skipping the reddit circle jerk at the begining and end and just focusing on the people they interview.... its pretty fantastic.
