Yeah I noticed that. But it is still an annoying feature. Just because I followed a link that someone posted, doesn't mean that I'm brigading. I just want to participate like a normal user, but if they don't want me to use their site, then I won't.

It's not that they don't want you to use their site, though. The NP thing is basically just a mirror of the site set up to be read-only. It's not the "normal" reddit site, but what you were wanting to vote on is most likely on the "normal" reddit site.
Just replace "np" with "www" in the URL and it'll most likely take you to the same thing, only now, because it's on the normal site, you can vote on it. Make sense?

EDIT: I just went to the link you posted in one of the prior comments and replaced "np" with "www", and was able to successfully upvote a comment.

That's what I did. But it's inconvenient that I had to do that. the np feature shouldn't be there to begin with. They are wasting my time, I just wanted to browse Reddit. Now I have to go looking for the original link myself, just to avoid getting banned for voting. It is off-putting and it does tell me that they don't want me to use the site. If you see it differently then that's fine, but I found it very irritating.
