I really want to go on to see if it's working, but that would be counterproductive. I sure hope it works.

I just made this post: https://voat.co/v/MeanwhileOnReddit/comments/240864 hopefully if it picks up then you can swing by for some archived screenshots.

Blackout? I just found out about it here at Voat. r/all has zero posts mentioning blackout. I dont think majority of reddit users are even going to notice it today on reddit.

I have a bunch of accounts with thousands of comment karma - I'm going to use Reddit Overwrite to change them all to a message about leaving to Voat.

That sucks, but not really surprising. I only barely heard of it, via a post in all. After that, I saw or heard little to no mention about it. I was hoping some of the major subreddits would sticky reminders on July 9th.

Generated using http://jsfiddle.net/4L4g5k97/6/light/ (replace 'wildstar' with 'news' in the code)

This is awesome. This isn't just news. Look at all the default subs. They are all crashing. Not just for this blackout or the few days of June, but over the course of months. Ellen is killing reddit.

Don't count the chickens yet. It might just be that posts and berries are down because today is a partial day (so far). I can't tell if the code normalizes.

That's awesome, thanks!

http://jsfiddle.net/j3pttttw/ - r/iama - wow, every subreddit i can think to check shows a pretty significant and consistent drop (the daily graph for r/iama is more interesting imo) i'm honestly a little surpirised.

The last data point on each graph is an artifact. The hourly graphs set the current hour to zero, and the daily graph only counts the day's visits so far.

It's still the middle of the night in the US. Let's see where offices and workers decide to waste time.

We'll see a huge spike in traffic when the cubicle dwellers get bored, then a huge drop when people on reddit remind them to get the fuck off reddit.

If most of everyone who is serious about this blackout is off reddit, who is going to remind people to get off?

Sorry gotta say that those stats are wrong...if you are getting them from the traffic page on reddit they don't show the actual figures until a day or 2 after it is done.

And, you know, it's not actually possible to know how many people visited on a given day, until the day has ended.

That too.

But take a look at the graph over the course of months. That's where the real story is. Traffic has plummetted since Ellen took over. Take a look at all the default subs, they are all bottoming out. She has taken one of the most popular internet sites and is ruining it.

What was the reason for the drop on 28 June?

I hope people keep off, so this gives the right amount of punch

That's a fairly huge drop in traffic. I hope it keeps up through the day or even the whole weekend! Is there a correlation in Voat traffic?

Maybe try checking Alexa?

Though my guess would be definitely yes, people still want somewhere to go

Yes. Alexa is a good source but remember to check the date when it was updated. It takes some time that results can be seen.

If that is accurate then it is really a drastic drop. It is obviously still early, so it is a bit wait and see, but this has the potential to be big. I hope that it at least sends that type of message that gets picked up by third party news sources again. That is how you know it was felt I feel like.

Ooh.. thanks for the reminder. I actually started my morning on Voat today and had forgotten today was the blackout.

I just added a block rule to my router to be sure that I don't go there out of habit.
