This is one of the least disruptive ways Reddit could deal with this law, blocking Germany.

That’s what was done with r/watchpeopledie

I think it's up to Germany to block sites they don't like. American companies can't possibly be obliged to follow German laws.

What's Merkel going to do ? Ask Trump to play nice ?

I really don't see how this can be applicable, german IPs are going to be getting blocked in every country that tries to enforce this.

You are not familiar with the sc ruling years ago that ruled treaties are more binding than the constitution or local laws.

I hope that happens. Ha-ha. Imagine Facebook, Amazon, reddit, youtube, wikipedia, etc, just not letting German users log on.

Germans once again are ruled by thought-police, the final path of the true fascists and regressive left? Germans are once again authoritarian? So you are not allowed HATE things now, hate communism, hate the barbaric practices of the Aztec, hate certain foods, hate certain drinking, don't like curry, tapas, kebabs, coconut water, tequila, Caipirinha, hate scientology or doomsday cults...that''s Waaaascist! You are against the teaching of Reich government socialism! You go to jail

So you're advocating SJW tactics to bring down a leftist platform? I kinda like it. I like the irony. I'd just do it for the headline then bail.

If an attacker uses a gun to deprive you of liberty, it is quite acceptable to turn it on them.

the left party is and has always been against this law. free speech, even if the things that have been said are retarded but unfortunately the left party has too little to say against the conservatives who love censorship everywhere on the globe

While i hate reddit i support even less censorship.

Using this kind of tools only gives authoritarian people and governments more power in the future.

i 100% support using the left's censorship laws to destroy their own platforms.

That being said, we need to be cautious and remove these laws.

As a US citizen I have no means of affecting German law, even when they intrude on global services I use.

Laws follow the money, wrecking investors with bad laws is one way to incentivize the people who matter to oppose such legislation.

Are we sure we want to demolish reddit? This place is pretty nice, not sure I want them mucking it up.

Offends who?

[–] go1dfish [S] 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

I used offensive as a blanket term, the second link goes into some more detail.

But essentially anything you can’t say in Germany is subject to this law they intend to enforce on international sites.

That includes holocaust denial, Nazi propaganda, “Defamation of the state and its symbols” (my personal favorite), “Dissemination of depictions of violence”, “Defamation of religions, religious and ideological associations” and more.

Britain is considering similar bullshit:
