Ah, no. Syria would not allow a pipeline to be built. The pipeline would cut the Russians out of the European energy market. The West has the motive to take out Assad, not the Russians.

Yeah, that's totally it. That's totally why the entire populace revolted after a fraudulent election then Assad decided rather than allow international observers he would just start executing protesters in the streets thus kicking off a civil war.
