/r/science ain't it, though, as can be seen by their recent Monsanto lobbyist AMA (they claimed he was a scientist, to comply with their own rules, but it turns out no, he was a lobbyist).

All the "AMA" questions were pre-prepared, and they made no secret of that fact.

"Mysteriously", no questions were approved asking about the recently declassified FBI documents that show Monsanto manufactured illegal chemical weapons.

Edit: Lobbyist Registration Form for Fred Perlak of the r/science AMA

Don't worry, reddit's newest policy will fix everything - #ShillSpaces

Wow, he was a lobbyist? Do you have a source on that? I'm not surprised at all, it amazes me how so many people (or at least redditors) don't realize that Monsanto and other GMO companies are completely paying for positive research just like the tobacco industry did during their heyday.

Well we can't have massive, international corporations with deep government ties having their fee fees hurt. Reddit is a safe zone remember.

Of all reasons, it's pretty weird to bring up their ama with monsanto as a reason to dislike /r/science.

They were hosting AMAs for PLoS - the open access scientific journal and had an excellent summer schedule planned. A loss for the entire community (of people) that these dialogues will be less efficient, if held at all at this point.

If they do come over, I hope they remove themselves from v/all like FatPeopleHate did.

I think /r/leagueoflegends and /r/hockey are the only subs I visit where it isn't total cancer. I am just waiting for them both to take off here.

That would be awesome. But how would we get the rioters who actively comment to also jump ship?

Well I don't know how likely it is, but I hope the mods that are banning TPP posts in r/news and r/modnews are removed.

My money is on /r/music. They do a ton of ama's and their mods have already echoed the Iama and science complaints.

Are we going through another exodus right now? I just have to point out that I find it hilarious that these moderators are suddenly freaking out now while sticking around through all the rapid changes that only affected normal users. At least it's happening, better late then never.

Yeah, I am having a hard time getting worked up for these people who actively supported the censorship of FPH because it didn't threaten them... now when they realize their own corner of reddit is also under siege by Pao, suddenly they want all this support.

As far as I'm concerned reddit is already done for. Some subs may still have quality content but that is quickly going to end. My prediction: Pao is going to keep imposing censorship and strictly PC discussions in an attempt to make the site more marketable, then it'll be sold off to the highest bidder. By that time I expect it'll be a wasteland, sad to see it's already a shadow of it's former self. It was a fun ride reddit, but now it's time to move on.

These aren't just power mods, these are the most powerful of the mods. Literally the chosen few.

They thought their world was the heart and soul of reddit. To have their personal Admin removed caused reality to come crashing down around them.

To be fair, it's not even crazy to think that the mods of /r/Iama have (or rather, had) good relations to the admins of reddit. IAMA was like the golden subreddit. It drove thousands of new users to reddit every day. It's as far away from any ShitRedditSays, FPH, Circlejerk and trolling bullshit as it can get. To think that reddit would do this sounds completely insane and that no one said something against this abysmal idea is even more threatening. There's a difference between letting her go and telling the sub-reddits who needed her service beforehand, and getting that information through the mod mail by one of the participants.

To be frank, reddit didn't shoot into their own foot, they just nuked half their body from the orbit.

I went way into the negatives on comments when I said the website would die in a year. I didn't expect it to die this fast.

Eh, the best parts of reddit were always the small communities. In that respect it really was the frontpage of the internet. I can't find a good homebrewing community, or DCSS community here yet. And those ones at least exist here, they're just too small to be active/interesting yet. I honestly think reddit will linger for a decade or more, just because the small communities are already established there, and it will take bullshit that directly affects them to force a move.

The defaults are dying as we speak, but the small subs will be a different story.

When did they threaten to go private? Is this not just related to the Victoria thing?

[–] userexec [S] 0 points 18 points (+18|-0) ago

The subreddit was mentioned in the posting on /r/outoftheloop

Today, we learned that Victoria was unexpectedly let go from her position with Reddt. We all had the rug ripped out from under us and feel betrayed. Before doing that, the admins really should have at least talked to us (and all the other subs that host AMAs, like /r/Books[1] , /r/Science[2] , /r/Music[3] , etc.) We had a number of AMAs scheduled for today that Victoria was supposed to help with, and they are all left absolutely high and dry...

https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/3bw39q/why_has_riama_been_set_to_private/

Then a quote was shown in the thread earlier about IAmA going private, although I can't find a source for this yet. Looking.

mod of /r/science: "I personally feel like shutting /r/science down as well, that's how much of a bad taste this leaves."

Here it is, posted by u/nallen fully support this decision to shut down /r/IAmA, letting Victoria go is a slap. To back this up, I am the mod in /r/science that organizes all of the science AMAs, and I am going to have meaningful problems in the /r/Science AMAs, Victoria was the only line of communication with the admins. If someone wants to get analytics for an AMA the answer will be "Sorry, I can't help." Dropping this on all of us in the AMA sphere feels like an enormous slap to those of us who put in massive amounts of time to bring quality content to reddit. I personally feel like shutting /r/science down as well, that's how much of a bad taste this leaves.

No point in continuing discussion on an unstable platform. Move to Voat for christ sakes, people. Yeah, it's younger than Reddit, but Atko has proven over these past (11? 12 now?) months that he is dedicated to keep this site up and running. He cares. Better a young and emerging website than an old one that is curated and censored by mods and angry admins.

*Triggered*

Christ's sake*

Pronouns begin with an upper case letter.
It is for the sake of Christ, meaning Christ is the owner, so he gets an apostrophe.
And, in my opinion, most importantly, we don't need to pluralise 'sake'.
