May have played a role. If the mods of IAMA stay "on strike" as they are, it's only a matter of time before they're replaced with admins, and their big cash cow opens the door for business again. We'll see how it plays out over the weekend.

I'll be genuinely shocked if iama is still community run at the end of this. It would seem that they're hell bent on monetizing the site above all else. It's only common sense that they'd leave their cash cow in the hands of the general userbase as opposed to the company.
