Put every single person that gets a government paycheck on rocket ships aimed at those planets. If life was found there the bureaucrats would kill it all with their breath.

All threats nullified.

With the add benefit of the other beings now underestimating the human race.

Not too surprisingly, exactly this idea has appeared in several scifi stories.

Kornbluth, The Marching Morons, also the inspiration for Idiocracy:

Full text: http://mysite.du.edu/~treddell/3780/Kornbluth_The-Marching-Morons.pdf

Another one is the Vonnegut-based TV movie Between Time and Timbuktu:

Alas, only part of this is currently on YouTube, but there is a segment in which a spaceship full of marketers, advertising execs and middle managers is intentionally stranded on a desolate planet, while a ship full of engineers and scientists is sent to a more inhabitable one.

Or, the aliens will just kill all our politicians. This is really just a win-win all around. Pretty good idea man

Yeah, we'll keep them here. There may be a few other usefuls. We could sort them out pretty fast though because they are so few.

“Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” ― Arthur C. Clarke.

Stephen Hawking and other scientists were against SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence), at least sending msgs into space, for the same reasons you have.

Does it even matter? We're not even in the same place anymore as we constantly chase the sun.

It does matter. Because if they lock on the message, they can see the location of the message is empty, but a fucking solar system with radio devices is moving somewhere in the near distance that is detectable.

Civilization as we know it will not be the best match for the evolutionary environment, intelligence will be drowned out by billions of the mud races that are busy squirting out retarded nigglets. The planet will be fine though, once civilization is lost they'll be eaten by roaches.

Well that just sounds silly.

Obviously, we are supposed to fuck this planet to death. Then spread to one other planet right before this one can no longer sustain life. Then once we got that down we move on to others from THAT planet maybe dozens and then it dies and we go to hundreds from each of the dozens we jumped to. Fucking them all to death and spreading like locusts throughout the entire universe. Exponentially growing as we learn to reach planets faster and faster fucking them all to death.

Then eventually Entropy fucks us all to death. And we embrace Ragnarok.

To put things in perspective Earth is 4,5 billions years old, life appeared ~3,9bya , first multicellular life appeared ~800mya . Chances are that most life in the universe consists of bacteria and archea or something similar with our single cell organisms .

On the thoughts that some other species will come and kill us, why? we are not a threat to any space faring civilization , earth is a tiny planet with tiny amounts of resources , our kind is exploitative and often parasitic . Would you visit Africa to kill disease spreading bats ?

I might visit Africa to kill disease spreading bats if there was potential of them flying to my part of the "world" and spreading their disease.

Very reasonable post yet it takes us 3 years to send a prob into a nearby planet , several light years distances are out of our capabilities .

What if there's some planet out there on par with our evolution but the dinosaurs DIDN'T go extinct and now the planet is not only more advanced, but also run by reptiles?

That's a pretty valid point.

"Just appeared" is a simplified way to present chemical processes .

So what do you believe ?

The only reason aliens haven't contacted the human race is because every single race of aliens knows humans are dangerous creatures. Aliens know about us and want to keep humans from spreading their brand of "friendship" to other beings in the solar system.

Or maybe our species was lucky enough to pass the Great Filter, and there isn't any other intelligent life out there pretty much anywhere in the universe.

Just because they are in the 'habitable zone' doesn't mean they're habitable. For the heat gradient to be dispersed around the planet evenly, you'd need extreme winds, not to mention these planets are baked in radiation and prone to volcanism. If there was life there, it would be extreme, but probably not advanced.

How is it they can find 7 planets, 40 light years away, but we don't know whats on the ocean floor? or decent high res pictures of Antarctica? Or the melted core from the Fukashima reactor? Seem funny to you........

we could explore space but due to the 'tax' of liberalism we can't do as much

Wernher von Braun would have had us on Mars by 1986 but liberalism killed it.
