She works for reddit. Reddit is not imgur.

Shhh. It's ok. You're safe now. Here's a gif of a tranny brushing her teeth. Everything is going to be ok.

NSFW link btw.

I may be the oddball here that can actually see imgur's side on this. NSFW content shouldn't be placed into non-NSFW posts by people commenting. Why should it be allowed?

No, I actually support the decision too.

Although I don't see how on earth it is going to be implemented. They can't possibly check every post, so I guess they'll rely on user reports? I don't know.

Reddit is a safe space*!

*Unless you disagree with our narrative in which case you're literally Hitler.

Ridiculous, but hardly unexpected at this point.

The non-response of the community manager can be found here. That's a direct link because archiving isn't working on that post for some reason.

EDIT: It finally archived, here's the archive link https://archive.is/vIZxy

Double EDIT: It's worth noting that removed posts include things like a GIF of a Disney Channel show with the Disney watermark clearly on it, removed due to the actress's boobs moving slightly in her shirt. So Imgur is now officially even more "wholesome" than the Disney channel. I can't find the goddamn post again though so if anyone sees it, tell me and I'll link it here.

"We've always been at war with Eastasia"

Our rules always said xyz

Same thing.

The hilarious part about that argument ("This has always been the rules...") is that it's blatantly and variably false.

NSFW links in comments were explicitly allowed in the imgur TOS up until about three months ago. And it's not like the change went unnoticed - there were quite a few highly-upvoted posts commenting on the unannounced change to the TOS. And now look at what we have.

Is says "everything is based on user reports". Do we think they're lieing or is that really that bad?

Rioting is a big word for a worded response on the internet. Granting I hope this causes their viewership to drop dramatically and their competition to pick up big.

Reddit, it isn't wise to do this. You could have lasted perfectly well even with you getting in bed with the authoritarian left as long as you'd left my wank bank alone. But now you've removed the only reason many people are still on Reddit. You could take our subs, you could take our freedom, but the only thing you have accomplished by taking away our porn is awakening a sleeping giant and filling it with terrible resolve. Welcome to Screwedville, population, you.

What does this have to do with reddit? This is imgur.

They aren't banning NSFW content, only NSFW comments and NSFW images uploaded to the Gallery (whatever that is).

Ahh, thank you for pointing this out to me. I will be using it for this site from now on.

What has been driving me nuts about imgur same as reddit recently is how stupid its become.

The reason imgur became the primary image host at the time was because it was so simple. All the other ones like imageshack and photobucket were bloated with logins and albums and blah blah fucking blah. Imgur was nice because it was "upload -> get URL -> share". The idea was that the images would then be posted on reddit (it was made by a redditor for reddit), and there need not be any site functions built around browsing the images on imgur itself.

Then they started adding all these features, and when I actually want to upload an image to post to here or reddit, I have to figure out how to fucking do so.

All I want is a site with a single "upload" button that takes me to a page with the image URL once I've uploaded. That is all an image host needs to be.

Another nice alternative if you're looking just to upload/host images is pomf.se. So kawaii, such an easy host. I took my traffic there after all this imgur BS started.

Because the people who Reddit and Imgur are getting into bed with are a bunch of pitiful losers who have convinced themselves that sex and sexuality is evil and degrading, even when it's done entirely under the fully informed consent of everyone involved. This is why I like the Sex-Positive feminists better, because they understand that sex and sexuality are entirely normal and healthy and there's nothing wrong with whatever you do in bed or with your naked body as long as everyone involved has fully and meaningfully consented to whatever their doing. I'm genuinely sad for all the people who've bought into this sex-negative hogwash, because the only people their hurting with that are the people who desperately need to internalise the attitude that there's nothing wrong with sex, and whatever you do is your business and your business only as long as everyone is eligible and consenting. Sex is not the enemy, sex is not a vile tool of your patriarchal oppressors, and the only thing you're doing by demonising it is brining down the people who honestly need to be sat down and told that their sexuality is beutiful and healthy and there's nothing wrong, sick, or immoral about any of it when it's done in an ethical way. The only thing you achieve by demonising sexuality is robbbing people of the right to realise their sexuality and their sexual happiness, happiness that only comes from not demonising or pathologizing what is perfectly benign and healthy... Dear god, I think my inner Ethical Slut is showing.

I'm sure that the super close relationship between Imgur and Reddit will mean that frontpaged posts critical of this decision are removed.
