My understanding of Aluminum recycling was that because it takes a substantial amount of electricity to refine and create it in the first place, subsequent processes are worth it, given you are simply reclaiming and remelting the metal.
Is this incorrect? I don't get why they'd have a lot of controversy over that. As far as paper, that may be more energy put in than is worth it, but I'm not some expert at a paper mill or a recycler.
