Pandering to SJWs isn't good business?! Who would have thought?!

I guess all of those doughnuts to keep the fatties happy are taking a toll.

$20M is nothing to sneeze at but revenue from a site with Reddit's userbase should be much much higher.

Because they not only started selling more ads, but they allow companies to shill their products as actual posts. Raking in mad loot by betraying their users.

I mean, both sides "sjw" and "anti PC" people hate reddit for what it is. Both sides are using adblock and trashing it. No matter what side you're on, if you hate it then this is a win!

Apparently the captive market for purple hair dye and fedoras is a lot smaller than their marketing team thought.

Ever since my account started getting targeted by Facebook's mods after posting a joke supporting Trump, I'm done with them too. It's absolutely deliberate and blatant. It's the beginning of the end. Zuckerberg is just a programmer that got lucky. He's not a businessman.

I've realized that I've gone on facebook less and less lately. Not because of any single incident, just that it's absolute garbage.

For real. It used to be about people posting what's up or shit they were thinking, now it's just people posting links to random articles and (re)sharing pictures. Which thanks to Facebook's "sorting" algorithm, you get to see over and fucking over. Fuck that, ain't nobody got time for that. An occasional scroll through and that's it anymore.

What joke did you make?

[–] bagano1 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

I posted a Trump hashtag and said "Make America Great Again!" as an April Fools joke. I'm not a SJW liberal or anything and I don't know if I'm even going to bother voting, but it sure as hell won't be Democrat.

I think the mods started targeting my account when I made the hashtag. Zuckerberg is a fucking idiot. I hope he has enough money because if he keeps doing this, the site will be Myspace sooner than he thinks.

if they had just gone through with giving out $5million in reddit shares like they had said they would, literally given out a dollar of the company to five million people... then they would have had millions of people interested in the company and promoting it

[–] luckyguy 0 points 14 points (+14|-0) ago

Nope, instead they sold shares to people like snoop lion who would boss them around to achieve their political ends. He even talks about the political value of investing in Reddit just before or just after his purchase.

Upvoted was such a stupid idea. So you take stuff from reddit and put it on another site?

[–] Subtenko 0 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago

Stuff from redidiot usually is from other sites

It's not that bad. I was always wonder a site that has a tightly users ratio control (based on age, political views, jobs...) and put a lot of information on it for people to choose, and in the end you got a site that reflects topics what most(or part of) US population currently interested into. 1 site to process the information and 1 site showing it. The problem with Upvoted is its audience (young, liberals) has too much free time and go to Reddit instead, if the audience age from 30~40, free time is a limited and they have an alternate choose which they don't have to participate and read comments, the site'll have much better views.

All they have to do is undo the crap that I first noticed when Ellen Pao was CEO. If they go back to being awesome to the users and truly letting the best content rise to the top they'll find that things will improve for them.

One of the dumbest moves that I remember was the banning of r/pcmasterrace. Nevermind that the people there are some of the top spenders on reddit gold.

edit. They've been repeating the same mistakes that Digg made. They should get a consultation from Kevin Rose and learn what not to do.

If I ever wrote a book about running a web site and a message board, the NUMBER ONE rule is NEVER to be perceived as ban happy. That's the nail in the coffin for any site, in my opinion. NUMBER TWO would be to NEVER force board users to only accept the beliefs of the mods or the general hivemind of the board. That just chases people away.

A lot of the people running these sites aren't businessmen. They're children at heart.

That's exactly what reddit is. It's run by children. Thirty year old manchildren such as Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman.

Trying to dictate and preach an agenda won't work on a large website like Reddit. You can't fool the entire internet, there's always someone who will figure out the bullshit and explain it to everyone else.

I guess that the people running Reddit are 'businessmen' in the same sense that the people running Comcast are.

It only lasted a few days, due to the uprorar about it. It happened at about the time that the ps4/xbone were released.

What am I missing out on here?

Rofl.. My favorite part is how (at least in mobile) every picture of a sex toy has no caption except "Reddit user Highly_paid_orgy_pro".

This leads me to believe that the reason you're a pro at orgies is because you literally are a sex toy
