I'm all for the migration of Reddit... but I'm going to be honest. For 140k people to all flood voat at once with their hatred of fat people might skew the general "friendly" vibe we have going on right now. They're allowed to have their opinions, but generally people who openly hate something so much, even ironically, usually carry a negative vibe around them.

Don't get me wrong, it's okay for people to hate something, but we barely have any subverses here with more than 10k subscribers. For the FPH subverse to instantly get 100k subscribers would be kinda weird, just saying.

Friendliness is not the goal of this site, freedom is. If you can't handle opposing viewpoints, even if they are bigoted and hateful, you can't handle freedom.

That isn't what he is saying at all. He's saying that /v/all will be ruined by countless shit posts from /r/fatpeoplehate.

Yeah, and I realize that. I'm just soaking in as much friendliness as I can before it's gone.

You can block subverses. There's a button on the sidebar.

""friendly" vibe"

Safe spaces are now available at reddit... As long as FPH stays on the FPH sub, then they are welcome. /r/FPH regardless of what people think of it, didn't do what SRS did. They censored usernames on posts that they shared, they saw shit they didn't like (fats) and shared posts. Some users, yes, did comment on things with negative comments towards fats, but they weren't like "YEAH FAT PEOPLE HATE, CHECK US OUT, WE ARE A SUB"

Thank you for posting that, I scrolled through way too many "I hope they don't crash our party" posts. I came here for a free speech platform, which definitely includes "friendly" and "hateful" viewpoints.

I think you're missing a huge point. /v/all will be flooded with FPH subs.

Honestly, that would really suck, but if the only solution for that is censorship, then there's nothing we can do. As much as I hate FPH, they have a right to be here.

Keep in mind that there is a function to block suverses for yourself.

Good, it's an awesome sub.

I wouldn't class a sub where people congregate for the pure purpose of being hateful to fat people as 'awesome'.

Nor would I class the rampant paranoia as healthy. Mods are asked on a monthly basis for pictures to show that they're not fat, while if anyone is even suspected of being fat, they are banned.

While I can understand the point of the sub, to a degree, I have a bit of a bone with the mods. I made a comment once simply stating that maybe isn't totally fair to compare a mom with an infant to a body builder with a toddler. Mom wasn't even fat, just had the 'I just had a baby' belly. She wasn't a body builder.

Anyway - they banned me and I had an inbox of crap replies about how obese I am based on one picture of my broken toenail. Point being - sure, bring the sub over - but... maybe change the mods?

It's just hard to take snacktivists seriously, they'd make bad mods there.

They're not exactly adonis's themselves. Many of them are walking skeletons with skin and no muscle (I'm far from fat myself).

That's actually kind of insane (in a bad way). Not to compare being unhealthy to being persecuted for ideals, but it's sort of Red Scare esque.

Bingo. This is what people need to see that don't like it. Huge difference between Reddit and Voat.

I used to be subbed to FPH.....I'm too nice I guess. I'm not turning into a HAES advocate, I just can't hate people like they do.

Well, they're already here? When I went through the list of subs arranged by most active, theirs was right near the top, so naturally I blocked it.

Anyway, I don't agree with them, but this is meant to be a site for everyone so if they move their pointless and detestable operation over here, welcome aboard.

Yes, while it's true these idiots that should probably find a the nearest sharp object and insert it into their skulls do have the right to free speech. So do we. They have the right to be idiots and we have the right to call them idiots.

Why is /r/fatpeoplehate so controversial while /r/trashy and /r/justneckbeardthings a-okay?

0

[–] NotAnUndercoverCop 0 points 1 point (+1|-0) ago

I don't recall ever having said they were a-okay. Anyone that dedicates any amount of their time to bashing on pretty much any group of people has some serious mental issues if you ask me. If you hate gay marriage don't get gay married. If you hate fat people don't be fat. What doesn't going on line and bitching do about it exactly? Just circle jerking for the sake of circle jerking?

Personally, I've never visited any of those subs. Fair or unfair, though, I think the word "hate" being in the title of the former is what tips the scales towards them being considered worse. There's a difference between mockery or criticism and flat-out hate.
