This applies to many many things. If you don't understand something, it could be that it is very complicated, but I think it's far more likely it's being expressed in a convoluted manner (probably on purpose to make the author/presenter feel good about themselves). There are things I banged my head against for days, then found a youtube presenter or something that explained it in one or two sentences.

Yup. I just read a very simple meditation exercise to enter a deep or trance-like state. I have been meditating for like 8 months. The secret. Tell yourself at the count of 1 you will be in a deep meditative state and slowly (in your mind) count down from 20. I did this for the first time today and 8 minutes whizzed by without me even knowing.

You can find it on ebay for under $5 for the 1970 edition, under $8 for the 1998 edition, or $15 for 2011 or newer copy.

I think it's a shame pretty much nobody speaks it as a native first language. There are so many valuable cultural and historical texts that have never been translated into vernacular languages that it feels like losing the soul of western culture to not have any native populations speaking it.

A lot of books from the turn of the last century have a similar wit about them. The good ones anyway.
