We are living in an illusion of a reality.
The way we perceive this world is the illusion. What lies behind the border of illusion? What lies behind the bars of our egos? Is there anything at all on the other side?
What if we are far too attached to the world. Our attachment to the world and things in it keeps us in this plane of existence.
Why do we continue to fool ourselves? For what great cause have we imprisoned our souls? For what purpose do we continue to exacerbate this dimension of suffering?
Attachment is not worth it. There must be some form of release. There must be some way to come to the realization that our perceptions are not what is, nor what will be.
Oh how my soul cries for nectar, so sweet and innocent is this world. Within this world we all walk, we all breathe the same air and partake of the grandeur. But it is for naught when man kills man, brother hates brother, sister despises sister. "Why do you do this to yourselves?" A mother wonders. A leaf falling, a bird flying, blood on the pavement. Blood in your callused hands. Blood in all of our brains. Not a one of us is deficient in humanness. Deficiencies in humankind/ness are rampant. Take the road less traveled. Don't find a way, make a way, and leave a path so that others may follow. Light the darkness, illuminate the inner workings of this mad world. See the truth that is so evident.
Do not fear, look inside and accept what is. Know thyself. Love thyself. To thyself stay true. To thy brother and sister stay true.
I for one will lay down my life one day. I have found something worth dying for.

The biggest illusion is the one of separation and identity. Beyond what we can see and deduce lies the fact that we are all a single interconnected entity - the cosmos, of which there is nothing above or below.
To find out who we really are. To explore all possibilities. To create the "other" so we can look at ourself.
Also please mind that this dimension is not suffering - if you look close enough you will see that most bad things come from our own actions as a species. Of course there are moments of suffering in nature too but it is far overwhelmed by life.
I see what you mean though, and I would not mind life being a little less harsh, regardless of who's to blame.

I love the theory of oneness. I feel more connected to nature than to humanity.
As to suffering, it is a state of mind. I cause myself to suffer, for some unknown reason. Typically I have to get away from everything and everyone, like going down to the river, to get a reset on my energies. It slows me down, takes away the rapidness that is the modern world.
Thank you for your response.
