Hi everybody.
Lately I've been having the urges to get into a new MMO, but whenever I've tried to get into one, I get bored quite quickly because I have no one to play with, and most of the leveling zones in most MMO's are quite dull/empty, and nobody works together anymore.
Are you part of a guild that has focus on doing stuff together, and you need a player, hit me up! Mainly interested in F2P titles, as I've played all the paid ones to endgame (except for ESO, which I don't like).
Usually I prefer the support or healer class, but I'll play whatever you need the most :)
Now, I'm sure I'm not the only one left with the feeling of all the wonder in MMO's are gone, and people are always aiming for min/max etc.
To add some discussion besides my own advert here, I'd like to ask your opinion on this:
- ** Does Closed Beta's / Founder buy-in (and the likes) ruin the experience of MMO's (even if they wipe before launch)? **
I've come to the conclusion that I think they're bad for the game. All the wonder is gone, because people figure out all the systems during the beta part, so when the game launches, half the playerbase already knows whats going on, and what's the better path to go etc. An example for me i Albion Online. Love the concept, but having so many people playing it so much before it actually releases, will have a huuuge impact. A large portion of the playerbase will have a plan thats set in stone before the game launches, and they will progress much faster than the people who are just getting exposed to the world. This will create a gap between players, and I feel like some of the new guys will end up being left behind.
Which in the end ruins the experience of exploring the world together with other people. I loved playing on launch day years ago, when everything was new to everybody, and people worked together to figure everything out.

A closed beta is necessary for an MMO or any type of primarily multiplayer game. The closed beta finds bugs, stress tests servers, and in general smooths the transition to release. It also helps people who are new to the game or MMO's in general by allowing people who are better at figuring out those systems to make guides and how to's thus making the beginning for some players smoother and more enjoyable. Founders packs are sightly different as they are more of a release and are more stable but offer rewards to those who are very interested in the game. The only betas i have been in off the top of my head are ESO and Wild Star and have been in WoW expac Betas as well and none of them have really ruined my experience in the games and if anything it saved me from buying ESO at first (Bought Unlimited later) and i never picked up Wild Star because that setting didn't interest me.
