I was one called out the last guy for posting his own stuff and he didn't post again. I'm happy for it to be handled by you on a case by case basis. I like that this sub doesn't have a reddit list of rules and just concentrates on the Linux stuff. Maybe have some rules linked to a thread down the bottom of the sidebar under "tools and software" and "other subverses" If they are given a warning you can link them to it then they cant complain.

@sjvn just post 4 other Linux articles to each one of yours and no one will complain, it cant be too hard since you don't post that many threads.

Why don't you use those flairs that even people without CSS turned on can see? That way you can mark it as self-promotion or whatever and let people decide for themselves. I think the biggest problem with spammers like this is hardly anyone really takes enough notice to catch them out. Once people know they are self-spamming they downvote them.

That might send the message that it's ok to self-promote or spam one source and you'll only be tagged for it.

True but it could be a warning and a tag.

I'm of the mind that, if that is all that they post, and they aren't contributing to the sub by commenting in other posts, then they should get a talking to.

Yep. Backtracking to your blog most of the time is one thing, but 90%-100% of your posts sourced from a single, commercial venture that is clearly designed to generate revenue from page views is way over the line. Where exactly the line is between those two points... well, I don't moderate for a reason.

Look, I don't really mind self promoting on /v/Linux or any other sub as long as the content has some quality to it. Steven is basically shitposting his own articles from zdnet that have 0 quality and a lot shilling to them. His last two submissions were shilling Dell laptops and crying for the millionth fucking time how much Microsoft loves Linux, how we should hate on Lenovo for failing to make proper drivers for their laptops and other inane garbage that has no basis in reality. No company ever would deliberately cripple their own product for the sake of Microsoft if there wasn't some backroom dealing involved and money changing hands. We the consumers are getting fucked over, and in general, what really pisses me off is the fact that Voat as site is getting fucked over because advertising costs money. Steven is being paid by Dell and Microsoft and their "public outreach" companies to write stuff like this. If Steven wants to shitpost his corporate Microsoft deep-throating he's free to make his own subverse or better yet, pay for some Voat ad space to zdnet. Anything else should be a bannable offense, because seriously fuck him. I'd ban him on the premise for having 0 quality content posted here, shilling aside.

He's being paid for his shit articles and what he's basically doing is avoiding ad blockers and stealing ad space from Voat. He's a fucking thief and we should not tolerate that. Just ban him, delete his submissions or better yet blacklist entire zdnet domain from being linked here. We can still post archived links or screenshots if we want to. That's what I would do.

or better yet blacklist entire zdnet domain from being linked here

Only admins can do this site wide and subverse mods then can opt out of those site wide bans. They can't ban domains on a sub level

"Pay for some Voat ad space to zdnet." That is the answer.

Some of Steven's stuff would end up here organically, but if he is blowing up this sub with his own stuff to the point where disappointed has to ask the question he is spaming.

Write the rule and drop the ban hammer.

Is @registereduser flooding the sub with links to his shitty videos again?

It's spam if they don't follow the 5 to 1 rule.

Edit. Just checked his account and he lost all his CCP on a terrorism post a few days before this thread so he might not be back
