If you are willing to turn a few screws you could disconnect the laptop screen. Then it won't sense it and should go to HDMI as first monitor

Its really fairly easy and I never considered myself a hardware guy. Since the screen is broken anyway you've really got nothing to worry about. If you don't feel comfortable opening it up there's probably videos for your laptop, but you're really not likely to break anything except maybe the plastic casing.

This worked for me when I had exactly the same issue with a notepad. Pulled my hair out blindly trying trying to guess where the menu options were after finding pics online of the bios.

Doesn't always work unfortunately. I've had to scrap two laptops because this exact fault.
