I doubt I have to remind you. But, before you nuke it double check to make sure you're not deleting anything you want to keep. Like some pictures, documents, or some save files. ;)

And if you have any Steam games that don't cloud save - backup your Documents/My Games folder, lest you end up laying on the floor sobbing once you realize what you've done...

a bunch of games seem to save their savegames to obscure/hidden locations in the windows my documents folder.

I started shifting all of that stuff to the cloud just for the eventuality of getting a new PC. Granted the places I use aren't the best (Amazon, Microsoft, and Google) but for what I'm storing it'd fine. Steam collection and such can all be re downloaded and any questionable content is already kept on offline sources like back up and thumb drives and by questionable I mean pirated content like the few dated console games I can't get on pc... yet or movies which are better on a plex server anyway.

Haha well I'm still trying to figure out if I want to clone my current linux drive, or do a complete reinstallation. I'm on Linux Mint right now and I like it but if I reinstalled so many other options...

Dude, you need 1 SSD for OS and a 2nd HDD for all your other data. And just use GParted to reformat the windows drive.

Totally worth it, and don't give up on games entirely. Gog.com has a pretty good set of DRM-free linux games.

Or you can start playing Dota and forget other games even exist like I did.

OK..I'm a Linux user and have been for well over a decade. But I gotta ask ... why? Do you need the hard drive for something else? If so, go for it. But unless you have a compelling reason to nuke Windows, leave it sit until you do. Just ignore that it's there.

Linux can run Skyrim via WINE.

Also, by the time GTA V can run on Linux there will probably be other newer games holding you to Windows. It's just the way it goes.

It runs Skyrim alirght, but you need to rebind toggle walk/run to another key and never alt-tab. Sounds are a bit of an pain to get working too if your DE and PulseAudio are inseparable, but it's not impossible.
