Archived A question about SteamOS (Linux)
submitted 5.4 years ago by Explodedimp
It is well known that Linux is not compatible with most AAA games. Since SteamOS runs on Linux how is it going to appeal to the masses if it only runs indie games? Will it use something like wine?

For gaming-related questions, I recommend you ask them in Linux-gaming next time! It is not that Linux is incompatible with most AAA games, but the opposite. SteamOS is a distribution, distro of Linux. There are currently over 1300 Games on Linux, including AAA titles such as Shadow of Mordor, Bioshock Infinite, Civilization V, Borderlands 2 and presequel, with way more to come. Of course there aren't this many AAA games yet, since Linux hasn't been a 'gaming platform' for nearly as long as Windows. Also with Vulkan almost there, porting windows games is only going to get easier.
