Gmail's spam filter is really aggressive towards e-mail coming from low-volume domains. I imagine many kernel hackers use their own domain for their e-mail so they'll often end up tagged as spam for no other reason. It's really annoying and another reason not to use Gmail.
I use my gmail for a general dump address when I need it to say, sign up for something online. Everything else goes to either my personal domain or another non gmail address I have set up.
