That's exactly what I thought when I read the email. I also imagine as he marks things as not spam, that it will help improve the results in the future.

Poor Linux is getting emails for every corner of the globe, probably in at least two different languages. Teaching Spam filters to ignore kernel patches is really only useful for a handful of people, important people, but very few. As much as Google depends on Linux working, they could easily afford task a few interns to just manually sort his mail.

At most organizations a personal assistant would do that for someone like Linus. Just to help triage thousands of emails to the correct destination.
