Lol, ok, I will rephrase. Thunderbird is on life support. Mozilla has stopped developing any new features and now only providing an extended releases for security and stability. It's on oxygen. I've used Thunderbird for 12 years, not anymore. It's dead.

Well, as with most things in the open source world, it will either get forked, or another project will take on the mantle.

Geary was recently updated, but it still lacks a lot of features.

The era of desktop emails clients is over, unless it's in corporate setting. There weren't many Thunderbird users to begin with, not most of them moved to using IMAP/pop clients on their phones.
