And he's right because GPL v3 is a proof that Stallman's people have been co-opted by the corporate interests. Strong arming v3 over v2 projects only serves to prove it.

I have always found MIT and BSD licenses to be more logical. Obviously, GPLv2 is not going anywhere - you cannot build upon something and then decide to excise the portions of it that do not fit your goals. But I don't see where there is some ethical obligation to adopt a newer version that leaves you scratching your head.
