Oh? That's definitely a problem then, since Spain badly needs to cut back. I would have assumed a caretaker government would have a minimum budget covering emergency services and armed forces and things.

They have a caretaker government, which by law is the same that was before the last successful parliament assembly (imagine that Obama keeps the office one more year because Hillary and Trump got tied). But this government has the scope very limited, mainly they cannot make new budgets nor passing new laws. They can keep running at the bare minimum: tax collecting and spending following the 2015 budget.

But other than that the link is right: the streets are peaceful, people are focused in their lives, everything works as usual.

Again, if only the budget was balanced they can keep going through this forever.

Well, the Euro is always inflating, so eventually the 2015 budget will be balanced.
