This is exactly why, for many years, I burned the flag on the 4th. Not out of disrespect, but because I had the right to do so, and it seemed fitting to exercise the right to burn the symbol of that which gave me the right to burn its symbol.

Burning the US flag is protected speech under the Constitution. The Supreme Court had to rule on it several years ago.
