I posted this Twittlonger from John Kelly as a joke on KiA, and to see what criticisms they had with his plan. The thread got entirely out of hand, and the reddit admin actually had to step in. Two KiA regulars had their accounts suspended site wide, and KiA moderators banned me for calling out users who were posting dox. Muh Rule 1 and Rule 3 violation.
#GamerGate — Proposal to Advance
With a nasty civil war between /gamergatehq/ and /ggrevolt/ coming to a close, it becomes very easy to rest on one's laurels. Your author is not displeased as the result is a victory for free speech over ego. While there is nothing wrong with a celebratory morale boost, pragmatism must not be discarded. Thereby, I propose the following strategies:
-
Boycott (ie. signal not to buy) games over this holiday season. Boycotting is a consumer right, we do not need developer support, boycotts work (note the transition of Assassin's Creed Unity to Assassin's Creed Syndicate), and they are not illegal. Pick your targets, give the reasons why you are boycotting them, and advocate consumers not to buy. The industry has screwed gamers over as much as the media has. [In selecting targets, prioritize ones that have been connected with scandals uncovered during GamerGate such as Gearbox (spoke out against gamers), Riot (had a PR agent in the Game Journo Pros mailing list), and Warner Brothers Interactive (offered anti-consumer deals to youtubers) OR low-quality games with projected low-sales figures this Black Friday (ex. Fallout 4).]
-
Mock #NotYourShield mercilessly. What was at first a protest against the Gamers Are Dead articles has become akin to #BlackLivesMatter. Special snowflakes use the tag to raise their profile through identity, not merit. Give them the same level of ridicule as a typical SJW.
-
Become your own journalist. The investigative research done by the bloggers and youtubers we criticize you can do far better yourself. Relying on people who are big names results in dependency which subsequently results in being taken advantage of (see SPJairply). Appeal to those looking for results as opposed to clout with the mainstream.
-
Related to the previous strategy, dig deeper into academia. DiGRA was not an isolated incident; these astroturfing fronts from progressives occur at all levels (watch #ThinkSerious for more). The press relies on these studies and these studies rely on the press forming a system of circular citation which inevitably influences the gaming industry. Bring the general public up to speed.
-
Continue to investigate crowd-funding. Most of the time crowd-funders are ripped off through cons, scams, and frauds. Steven Polk was merely the latest notable incident and is certainly not isolated. The platforms they use are also equally corrupt. Consumers should know their are better uses of their money and creators should know their are better business models.
I am certain each of these strategies will be objected to by different critics for different reasons. Simultaneously, I am certain those critics will agree with at least one other strategy. Therefore instead of assuming a proposal is dictation, pick up the strategies you like and discard the ones you object to.
note: I am not the leader of the Triangles, this was just his latest communication to us.
Edit: I was just informed that this message was not written by the Leader of the Triangles, but by his second in command and endorsed by him.
EDIT:
Dudes, this was a fucking joke thread. Under no circumstances would I ever endorse actually fucking posting dox of anyone. Jesus fucking Christ, KiA. "ggrevolt is the dooooxxxing board!!" Yeah, that's why fucking KiA users were posting fucking dox in this fucking thread. I was just trying to post something informative that I partially agree with, and troll a little with the "sekrit club" meme, and you mother fuckers go and post the home address and phone number of a #GamerGate supporter. smh, fam, smh. And the next time one of you go accuse another hub of #GamerGate discussion of encouraging or posting dox, take a look at your own "regulars" that just went ahead and posted dox in this fucking thread. Seriously, I'm disgusted.
'nother EDIT:
Report someone for posting dox, inform the mods multiple times in this fucking thread that there's fucking dox, and you mother fuckers ban me? I guess I was "crusading" against YungWookie for doxing someone in this very thread right here, and the God damn admin had to step in because the KiA moderators are the epitome of competence. I'm pretty fucking dumbfounded. This thread was an obvious joke, and some shitheads in this thread took it way too seriously and decided to post dox. Just a reminder, go to Voat. /v/GamerGate is a much more open and welcoming place for #GamerGate discussion than this fucked up subreddit. Oh, and another reminder, if I hadn't have broken the news to the users here, people would still be donating to a 31 year old man pretending to be a chick with big tits.
That was the entirety of the OP. Here's an archive of the thread after dox were removed.
Here's an album of various screenshots.
The only reason left for anyone who's informed to post on KiA still is to inform the unaware of /v/GamerGate.
edit: I just went throught YungWookie(Lurkerfag001)'s comment history here, and he's been spreading that same archive which contains dox on Voat. That dox is the reason his reddit account suspended. I've reported him to the appropriate subverse moderators to have the dox removed.
