I would suggest something that is ridiculous, just to show how ridiculous arguments based on pronoun usages are. How about "Hir" (Sounds like "here", but with a ridiculously held out "EEEEEE" in the middle, like a Swede saying it, Him/Her), "Hes" (rhymes with "yes", also ridiculously held out, Hers/His), and "shehe" (kind of sounds like "shithead", He/She).
Now we have the completely gender neutral statement: "Shehe let hes fucking dog poop on my lawn and I'm going to kick hir ass."

As dehumanizing as it is (as the kids would describe it no-a-days), unless specifically stated as such, I read male pronouns as non-specific, and female pronouns as always-specific.

That is exactly how I read them, and I honestly believe its how most of the english speaking population reads them.
