The disappearance of ModTalkLeaks from /r/kotakuinaction proves that it's not free from admin shenanigans. It still boggles my mind that we haven't had more people move over here from reddit.

Hahaha the whole social justice community is just sexist racists projecting their bigotry as concern.

Can someone explain to me what that community even is? I honestly have no idea what's going on but I've been hearing about it a lot.

It's ironic because at the end of the day, the SJW community is actually counteractive at promoting fairness and justice.

There's something very wrong about the gender and civil rights movements on the Internet.

And don't you dare point out their hypocrisy. Like the big thread going on over at Reddit in r/fatpeoplehate. A lot of bans from other subs happened just for people posting in r/fatpeoplehate.

The two biggest offenders were r/offmychest and r/blackladies. r/blackladies is very racist against white people.

You hit the nail on the head buddy. The rest of us just want to treat people equally and look at some funny images. They want to segregate and judge people based on race, gender, sexuality, etc. You're a number to them, not a person.

Fuck them, that's not equality.

How is eliminating salary negotiations helpful to women? Women can think for themselves and should be able to speak for themselves! If they want a competitive salary then they should be able to negotiate for one! This is some of the most backwards thinking. It really is like its so liberal its actually conservative.

Fine-tuning this stuff deals with the pay gap issue, and makes those statistics (which are somewhat suspect anyways)

There is like maybe a 3% gap, definitely not 27%. BLS did a report that debunked this whole myth. Raw numbers do show 77 cents on the dollar for women but when you adjust it for circumstances, like decisions about careers and paths etc then this gap disappears and where it still exists it is self imposed. http://www.consad.com/content/reports/Gender%20Wage%20Gap%20Final%20Report.pdf

I can see that women in the workplace can be biased against but I think that getting rid of someones ability to negotiate for a higher salary because women do poorly is crap. I agree that there may be other motives for this but it really speaks against her claim for equality in my opinion.

These articles love to talk about bias in equality of women in Silicon Valley but continue to neglect the fact that women do not partake in computer classes as much as their male counterparts.

And there's a huge amount of articles and studies that show women underperform when it comes to salary negotiation, or are seen negatively if they do.

In the general case, this may very well be true. But in this specific case, a woman fully aware of this issue is controlling the hiring process, and has the power to address the problem.

And so, the decision to exclude it implies a lack of faith in her own ability to judge candidates fairly...

Did you ever hear the counter argument that if women were doing the same work as men for less money, businesses could increase profits by hiring more women? Well, perhaps this is an attempt to do just that.

I just signed up here after reading this. Pao is a sleazeball and I can't believe how she gets a free pass in the media. No salary negotiations because women don't fare as well? What a convenient PC approved way to say that employees have no say in their compensation. This woman spent years at a company that gave her every opportunity and let her shit pass so she could build a lawsuit then unleashes it when her equally sleazy husband's ponzi scheme came crashing down. It's so painfully obvious her SJW facade is in place for her own benefit. She used it to try and sue the shit out of the company that she worked for before and now she's using it to install like minded drones that will secure her position as CEO when her interim period is up.

Social justice is not wrong in and of itself. It's a noble goal to fight for a society free of prejudice and for an equal playing field for all. I think we'd all love to live in a world where people aren't defined by who they are, where they come from and what they believe. We'd all love to live in a society where people's merit is based on who they are as a person and not what they are. But Pao and her ideological comrades on the aGG side of the fence are just the opposite of what social justice is about. They would love to judge you based on all of the above. God forbid you're a member of the mythical privileged, or rather the wrong part of the privileged caste. You better practice your self flagellation and grovelling if you are and want to be in with them. They don't want equality or anything like that, oh no. They want power and money. Pao wants Reddit for herself, these games journos want clicks and attention and crying racism, sexism, or transmysogyny or whatever the cause du jour is is just another way for them to get it. They found the most unassailable position to spout their bullshit from and dug themselves in. The average person will either buy the line of reasoning that fighting against injustice is always a pure position despite the fact these people don't care about injustice. They care about themselves. The skeptical middle ground get cowed by threats of ostracization from being labeled as bigots and hold their tongues. Meanwhile the media laps it all up and presents a one sided story divorced from the truth. Look at the information that just came out about Shanley Kane. She's a perfect example of these types. She used social justice as a cover to make a career out of while believing none of it.

I hope that the knee jerk reactionaries are happy. Here's your new martyr, Ellen Pao. Lawsuit trolling, dissent squashing, ponzi scheme accomplice, vindictive control freak. Just be careful what you say and think, wouldn't want to commit a thought crime and end up an enemy of the party. Social Justice: where wealth and public influence aren't the source of power in society, it's your race, ethnicity and sexual orientation.

No salary negotiations because women don't fare as well? What a convenient PC approved way to say that employees have no say in their compensation.

It's also extremely sexist and demeaning to women to assume that they can't negotiate, and to rob them of the choice in whether or not to do so while calling that 'empowerment'.

[–] tetrabug 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

Exactly. It's prejudice plain and simple. "Oh, you're a woman so you're bad at negotiating, so you can't negotiate."

I don't know that she got a free pass. A few of the articles I read said some fairly negative stuff about her and her husband.

[–] tetrabug 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

Mind sharing a few? I'd love to read them. Honestly, I hope I'm wrong and I've just been hyper focused on the articles that are reprinting her words with no context for her actions and the ones outright supporting her. I just worry about what ends up being the dominant narrative about all of this.

I think we'd all love to live in a world where people aren't defined by who they are, where they come from and what they believe.

Huh? So instead of judging people on their character you want us to judge them on their point of origin and belief system? I think you meant this the other way around. Otherwise you are saying we should judge someone for being from Africa, China, India or Latin America etc, or that we should judge someone for being a Muslim, Christian or a Jew, or a liberal or a conservative.

Yeah that was bad wording. Should have said they aren't defined by what they are but who they are as a person.

That's what I took from it. I think you may have misread the 'aren't' as 'are'.

Pao is toxic to Reddit and the last thing we need on Reddit is for someone like her to run the show. I do not stand by people like her and until she is ousted, I will not participate in commenting or voting on Reddit. Voat seems like our best option.

They'll probably fire half the employees and replace them by paying a few hundred of the more notorious redditors to be minimum wage shills.

Cheaper to pay a few shutins for 24-7 downvoting/banning people than to actually have a real staff. It'll backfire whenever some technical problem comes up but oh well, that's reddit's issue and not ours.

Pay notorious redditors to be minimum wage shills? No need. They do it for free.

I hope Voat is ready for the cancer to spread here. The Mods are going to see the tide change and want to secure their power.

I hope Voat has or will have a way to remove Mods by force if the user base wants them gone.

I wonder when she'll set up a Patreon. It might take a while to get $144 million in donations.
