The act of copying something is the writing part, the last bit refers to whether you have the right to do so.

And yes, IP can all go die in a big fire as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't promote creativity or innovation (as it's proponents claim) it stifles them.

Thank Disney for caging the mouse. This why I will not go see the new Star Wars. And I'm one of the few who has the original trilogy on laserdiscs. Nothing has gone into public domain thx to the DMCA.
