David Wong wrote a rather good horror-comedy book called John Dies at the End. It became a black horse hit, and the success went to David's head. Now he runs an SJW shithole called cracked.com and lives in constant pants-shitting terror that we will all realize that even a hack like him can accidentally cobble together a good book, at which point he'll be forced to go back to his true calling in data entry. He compensates for his lack of talent by occasionally reprinting a "motivational" article of his about the importance of working constantly to achieve your dreams that makes Shia Lebouffe look reserved by comparison.

Edit: yes, I used to be a fan of his work. He's a lot like Sensitive Joss Whedon in that I appreciate the work he's done in the past, but refuse on principle to give any new work of his a chance.

I miss when the cracked contributors did good shit.

Like the John Cheese story about the time Hitler stole his belt. Haven't seen it in years.

There's another guy who fell off the deep end. He's David's buddy, you know. In fact, John Cheese is the John from David's book. To be brutally honest, the first bad mistake David made as editor at Cracked was to give John Cheese a writing gig as an act of charity. It started the precedent of Cracked giving voice to anyone with a sob story, which in turn led to the precedent of uncritically repeating the claims of professional victims.

I haven't checked up on Cracked recently, but last I checked John's main role there was to "punch up" their contributors' social justice screeds with dick jokes and naughty words to make them technically funny. I wonder if these days John doesn't miss his days of washing semis. At least that was honest work.
