People like to throw the D-word around a lot, but in this case, what has it really done for anyone? There are ways that, at an ideal level, it could be helpful. Unique experiences leading to nuanced storytelling, for example, colorful and realistic dialogue for another. The kind of thing that would be subtle. What we're getting, especially as of late, is diversity for diversity's sake. People shoehorning it in. Quotas, games that aren't fun.

Variety is the spice of life, but you can't just throw seasoning on a pile of manure and expect it to sell.

They're promoting diversity for its own sake, as opposed to just letting it happen naturally over time. As if force-feeding society is preferable to letting it eat voluntarily.

But these are arrogant, vindictive people, and allowing folks of all stripes to rise and fall on their own merit would deprive them of their self-appointed role as the masters of both the so-called victims and their imagined oppressors.
