That was my theory too, it's too small of a community to have so many subs (keyboards aren't that interesting to most people).

I was trying to divert people from the inactive sub to the active /v/keyboards when I was sub ower, but I guess now we have two active ones. I just hope both subs don't become barren wastelands. Ripster did the same with Reddit's /r/keyboards to make /r/mechanicalkeyboards the main sub, I wouldn't want that to happen to any subverse!

I doubt that. There isn't even that much activity in the first one. There is only a limited amount of keyboard news and reviews.
