Sounds like some type of ring spot virus. It's a common disease that affects many plants. There are also parasites, scale insects and fungus that can leave similar marks but your description makes me think it's ring spot.

The plant is probably a loss. But you could try pruning the affected areas and then just waiting to see what happens. Becareful to dispose of diseased clippings properly to avoid spreading the cooties. You can also just remove it from the planter and watch other plants closely to make sure they also don't get infected. Thyme and lavender tend to be hardy and rather disease resistant so they should be fine.

Thank you (and to you as well, @ArcticDweller) I have already tried pruning the affected areas about three days ago although, thinking back now, I don't think I disposed of the leaves properly because that was about when it rapidly spread... However I do have one sprout that is still unaffected by this so I think I may be able to save it. (I already know how to do cuttings so that isn't a problem luckily!)

Now, if/when I remove the oregano plant how should I sterilize the pot to ensure it doesn't happen again?

(Edit: Should probably mention, they are all individually potted plants.)

One of my mentors always advised me to literally fire the soil for about 15-30 min in aluminum roasting pan before you use it again. You can also stick it in the oven. I know people that use this trick to keep their greenhouse and hydroponic outfits disease free.
