I'm gonna be right up-front about this and tell you all I know is they put bees in my fields and they used to charge me for this. I changed to a local guy and he actually gives me delicious honey for the right to put all the damned boxes of bees in my fields that he wants to. Hell, I might ask 'em if he's interested in a further partnership and putting some bees in near the farm. There's tons of fields and lots and lots of clover-covered acreage.
It's delicious honey. I haven't paid for honey in years. I have gallons of the stuff. Probably not as much as you, however. If I have more honey than you, you're either doing it very right or you're doing it very wrong.
They don't sting me, or nuffin. That's pretty awesome - 'cause I'm actually allergic to bees. However, their venom isn't very powerful and they'd have to sting me a lot to make me do more than say fuck and maybe wheeze in 15 minutes. Meh... I ain't scared. I don't even usually carry my shot kit!
They're pretty tame so long as you don't breath on 'em. They seem to hate that. Otherwise, I've sat right on the hives and eaten my lunch - which was also, I assure you, delicious.
Very few things in life are more important that delicious.
I put one medium honey super on one week ago and I already have three frames about 70% filled. They also fixed some comb in the older frames prepping it for honey. I will check in another week and swap full frames for empty ones as long as they keep filling frames.

Very cool.
Just started brewing my own mead. If you need inspiration for the finished product.

Nice, how much honey do you use in a typical batch?

Per gallon demijohn I use 2 1/2 pints of honey.
It's a dead simple mix. One third honey two thirds water. Plus a teaspoon of strong yeast. Give it a try!

waves to the bees
Hello mr. Bees!
The fields should get their first boxes this week.

Technically those are all Ms. Bees. Drone bees are banned from my honey super.
