Immediately pesto. You can take a sprig of basil as long as your hand and put it into an Italian tomato sauce for pasta too, take it out before eating and it adds an indefinable and delightful flavour.

please elaborate with pesto recipe. I have a SHIT TON OF BASIL as well, and like @DammitMoonMoon I have no idea wtf to do with it......

take a double handful of basil leaves, washed and picked off the stems + 2 tbspns of roasted pinenuts + 1 (or more if you like) clove of garlic + a lot of grated parmagiano + olive oil to moisten and blitz it in a food processor until it is smooth and has a paste consistency.

I'm going to use this one. Pesto. I've never made it before but I'm going to follow her technique for using ice trays to freeze small portions and then I can just pull them out as needed. After I master making the pesto I'm going to try to make a pesto creamy pasta sauce. Let me know if you give it a try!
